🚨 Crime
Officers responded to a call at 6:45 p.m. Aug.
22 on the 1800 block of Lacey St. in south Bakersfield when they found a man with visible trauma; despite CPR and medical aid, he was pronounced dead after video footage showed him walking about 40 minutes earlier.
🎭 Culture
Rosa Diaz, who founded La Rosa Ice Cream in 1980 with her husband, died at 87 earlier this month as her daughter Norma now carries on the tradition in Bakersfield.
The family still makes the original hand-crafted paletas and offers event catering from the Niles street shop — a longtime local favorite.

Kern County will see a shift from dry summer weather to monsoon conditions this weekend—moist air from Mexico will meet hot desert air and may cause thunderstorms and brief rain for Bakersfield and nearby areas.
