- ➤ Residents near the Borel Fire (burn scar) area are alerted as Kern County Fire Department warns of flood and mudslide risks amid heavy rain and wind today. - ➤ Caltrans said flooding and debris forced full closures on Westbound Highway 58 at Exit 172 and Exit 165 near Mojave, leaving no direct route from Mojave to Tehachapi as officials assess damage. Bakersfield Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kern County is providing free sand at nine locations including Bakersfield and Tehachapi to help residents protect their properties ahead of heavy rainfall; they must bring shovels and sandbags as empty bags are available at local hardware stores. 23ABC News
- ➤ PG&E said outages climbed from 40,000 to 125,000 during last night's winter storm, with about 2,000 in the Central Valley including 275 in Kern County, and SoCal Edison said crews handled outages near Tehachapi with 113 affected and near Delano with 36.
