COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community Action Partnership of Kern got a $100,000 donation from the Ravi and Naina Patel Foundation and $25,000 from Strata Credit Union to send more food to families in need. It will hold a collection event at Life FM studio on Nov. 14 from noon to 5 p.m.—local radio stations are also working to meet rising demand.  Bakersfield Now
  • Today, Kern County Library is offering the Supper and Snacks in the Stacks program to provide free meals for children ages two to 18 at its branches across Kern County—this initiative supports young minds and local families.  Bakersfield Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Texas Roadhouse is offering free meal vouchers for veterans and active military today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Bakersfield location at 3203 Ming Avenue near Valley Plaza Mall — customers must show proof of service and vouchers can be used through May 31 for one of 10 entrees, two sides, and a drink.  Bakersfield Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Boots In The Park returns to Bakersfield with artists including Jon Pardi, Scotty McCreery, Ian Munsick, John Morgan, and Emily Nenni on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Bakersfield Sports Village. Ticket presale begins Friday, November 14, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. for four hours — general admission tickets start at $84 while VIP tickets start at $224.  Bakersfield Now

  • Bakersfield College held its first-ever First-Generation College Student Day on November 10 with resource booths and guest speakers sharing personal experiences (over 40% of students are first-generation). GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bakersfield is set to honor its veterans today with the 106th Veterans Day Parade that starts at 10 a.m. and ends around noon; streets on 20th, 21st, and H Street will be closed from 7 a.m. and float entries are due by 8:30 a.m. (other entries by 9 a.m.).
