- ➤ Foster care program Holiday Cottage has celebrated 38 years of granting wishes to children in foster care and expects over 700 requests this holiday season. - ➤ Local officials will honor veterans at Tuesday's Veterans Day Parade in downtown Bakersfield as marching bands, school cheer squads and drill teams perform — the event promises to draw community support for military service. - ➤ Today, the Bakersfield City School District uses the McKinney-Vento program to support homeless youth by offering rides, clothing, school supplies, and food to help them stay in school.
