Bakersfield Police Activities League offers free afterschool programs that give local youth sports, homework help, and mentorship to steer them away from gangs.
The nonprofit operates Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and reaches about 2,000 kids at its renovated facility + fosters positive community ties.
The Thrive and Purpose Foundation will host its first indoor pickleball tournament on Saturday, Aug.
