- ➤ Alvin Raymond Carter pleaded no contest to two sexual assault charges and faces forcible oral copulation and assault by force while three related charges—including burglary and kidnapping—were dismissed on August 18—he is scheduled to appear for sentencing on September 16. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ Sebastian Dominguez, 19, pleaded not guilty to murder after allegedly shooting 17-year-old Brody Davis at Panorama Park when Davis tried deescalating a fight—he was arrested hours later in Silver Creek and will return to court Thursday. KUZZ
- ➤ Alejandro Galvan-Silvestre, a Bakersfield man, pleaded guilty to shining a laser pointer at a Kern County Sheriff’s Office helicopter on September 5th—he will face up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and will be sentenced on November 17th. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ Fifteen-year-old Anthony Lopez admitted in juvenile court last week that he faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and use of a gun for fatally shooting 23-year-old Leana Perez on July 12 at Heritage Park on Bernard Street—Perez died at Kern Medical and sentencing is set for next month. KUZZ

- ➤ The Little Fire near Highway 178 burned 2,537 acres and remains 0% contained—evacuation orders and road closures were issued after the fire started on August 22 near Borel Road. Firefighters are using helicopters and heavy equipment to build containment lines after nearly two inches of rain on Sunday, and Highway 178 has reopened. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ The wildfire called Little Fire has burned over 2,500 acres since it started on August 22 along Highway 178, five miles west of Borel Road, and has led to evacuations in the Kern River Valley and near Lake Isabella.
