CRIME NEWS

  • A suspected DUI crash on Aug. 24 at 1:20 a.m. near Panama Ln. and Stine Rd. in Bakersfield resulted in one fatality and two injuries—officers also arrested two drivers who drove through a police barricade.  Bakersfield Now
  • One-year-old Amillion Gutierrez died of heat stroke on June 29 in a hot car in southwest Bakersfield when his mother left him and his 2-year-old brother for about two hours while she got a lip filler injection on Real Road—Maya Hernandez pleaded not guilty to murder and willful cruelty to a child and will appear in court on September 8.  KUZZ
  • The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help identify two teen suspects in an auto theft case, one wearing a gray jacket and the other in a white t-shirt and blue jeans and both aged 14 to 17; anyone with information should call KCSO at (661) 861-3110 or the Secret Witness Line at (661) 322-4040.  Bakersfield Now

  • The Kern County Sheriff's Office is hosting a Civilian Hiring Event today from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.—at the County Administrative Office on Truxtun Avenue—where candidates are invited to apply for positions such as Dispatcher, Sheriff's Records Supervisor, and Deputy Public Administrator.  Bakersfield Now
