- ➤ A suspected DUI crash on Aug. 24 at 1:20 a.m. near Panama Ln. and Stine Rd. in Bakersfield resulted in one fatality and two injuries—officers also arrested two drivers who drove through a police barricade. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ One-year-old Amillion Gutierrez died of heat stroke on June 29 in a hot car in southwest Bakersfield when his mother left him and his 2-year-old brother for about two hours while she got a lip filler injection on Real Road—Maya Hernandez pleaded not guilty to murder and willful cruelty to a child and will appear in court on September 8.
