ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Bakersfield Train Robbers pitcher Nick Danbrowney died in a car accident on August 18th, and the 22-year-old from New Jersey who set a record at Ramapo College joined the team in late June and is deeply mourned by his teammates — funeral arrangements are pending.  23ABC News

CRIME NEWS

  • Psalm Behpoor, a 41-year-old manager at Pismo’s Coastal Grill who has lived here since age three, was detained by ICE at Mesa Verde Detention Center in Bakersfield after a decades-old burglary charge was revisited—his attorney and family say he now remains in legal limbo with no hearing set.  Bakersfield Now
  • On August 19, 2025, deputies responded to a Dollar General burglary call in Rosamond and arrested three suspects after finding multiple firearms—including an AK-47 and a sawed-off shotgun—and ammunition with drug paraphernalia at a nearby apartment on Diamond Street.  Bakersfield Now
  • Bakersfield police are searching for missing boys Bruce Sterling, age 11, and Evan Rush, age 13, who were last seen on August 19 at 7:30 p.m. on Pyramid Peak Drive; the public is urged to call the Bakersfield Police Department (661) 327-7111 with any tips.  Bakersfield Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Bakersfield food packaging plant is set to close on October 14—leading to layoffs for 127 workers, as announced in a WARN letter by Pactiv Evergreen. The company did not give a reason for the shutdown.  Bakersfield Now
