- ➤ Bakersfield police responded yesterday after reports of shots fired at a southwest Bakersfield home with a barricaded suspect near Grand Lakes Ave — Ming Ave, and they asked residents to stay clear of the area. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ Bakersfield Police said two at-risk missing girls, 12-year-old Elizabeth Tuntlandshewmaker and 17-year-old Viktoria Tuntlandshewmaker, were last seen in the 9000 block of Rancho Viejo Dr. in northwest Bakersfield on Aug. 16th at 8:50 a.m.- anyone with information should call 661-327-7111. - ➤ A person was arrested for DUI on Interstate 5 near Tejon Outlets Saturday afternoon after officers found the driver blocking northbound lanes and registering twice the legal blood-alcohol limit—traffic was slowed to allow the investigation. Bakersfield Now

- ➤ Local advocates, veterans, and residents rallied at the Social Security office today to mark 90 years of the program and call on lawmakers to protect it from cuts.
