- ➤ Officers arrested Ray Mata, Jr., 31 from Bakersfield and Graciela Bustamonte, 27 from Delano on Sunday morning for murder, torture and child abuse after an 8-year-old girl was found dead in a bathtub at a La Quinta Inn on Riverside Drive near Buck Owens Boulevard—both are due in court on August 5. - ➤ Bakersfield police are asking the public for help locating Marissa Espinoza, a 33-year-old Hispanic woman last seen after her release from Lerdo Jail on July 22 because she is 5 feet tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has distinctive tattoos on her left shoulder, right arm, and right wrist; anyone with information should call (661) 327-7111. - ➤ Police in Bakersfield are asking for help to identify the driver of a white Ford Fusion that struck and killed a pedestrian on Union Avenue between the late evening of July 3 and the early morning of July 4 — the vehicle shows damage to the passenger side front bumper and headlight and its side-view mirror is missing. - ➤ Early Sunday, a dispute over loud music on Rhone Drive in northwest Bakersfield turned deadly when a neighbor who armed himself shot a man in a backyard — police said others involved are now cooperating with the investigation. KGET
