The Black Business Dollar Initiative, which connected nearly 400 Black-owned businesses in Bakersfield, held its final event at Millcreek Park as founder Michelle Rainey ended her effort to build generational wealth.

Local business people now wonder what will come next to help them grow—many say nothing can replace the impact of her work.
