- ➤ A man accused of armed robberies in McFarland and Tulare County was arrested in Lancaster on July 24 after police tracked him from a July 21 incident at Browning Road Park—30-year-old Marquece Pikes now faces charges including robbery and a bail set at $500,000. Bakersfield Now

- ➤ Special vehicles have been measuring air quality block-by-block in Bakersfield since June as part of a $27 million program led by the California Air Resources Board and Aclima—these vehicles track pollutants like black carbon, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide in underserved communities and help provide local jobs. - ➤ Bakersfield now accepts applications for its 2025—2026 City Hall Fellowship under the Youth Jobs Program, with the window open from July 25 until Aug. 22 at 11:59 p.m. Applicants must be at least 18 by June 2 and under 30 by Aug. 22, and fellows will work 20 hours per week for 10 months at $25 per hour while gaining hands-on experience and professional development opportunities — all provided through Kern Community Foundation.
