- ➤ Bakersfield will extend its agreements with the Wendale Davis Foundation and the Community Action Partnership of Kern to cut gun violence using a public health approach backed by a multi-year state grant. City officials ask the council to approve the changes today—raising payments by $25,000 for one group and $85,000 for the other while extending the agreements until June 30—after noting a decline in group-related gun violence. - ➤ Arvin City Council approved a plan to convert its bus fleet to 100% zero-emission buses and must submit the rollout plan by July 30 — the plan sets new bus purchase rules beginning Jan. 1, 2026, with full conversion required by 2040 even as a draft calls for a battery-electric fleet by 2027 to lower pollution in disadvantaged areas.
