- ➤ Francisco Garcia testified that he was not at the Mesa Marin Sports Complex when the shooting killed Mario Bravo Jr. and denied any prior knowledge of the event as he and four other gang members face charges including attempted murder from the Dec. 24 shooting on Kentucky Street—he also said a recent family dispute was unrelated. - ➤ On June 29, Bakersfield police found two boys left in a hot car for over two hours, with a one-year-old dying and a two-year-old placed in protective custody, as the 20-year-old mother Maya Hernandez—who was at a nearby medical spa—pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter + two counts of willful cruelty to a child at her July 1 arraignment and is set to return to court on July 11. - ➤ Human remains found near Ohio Drive in southeast Bakersfield led police to begin a death investigation after a call on June 29 at about 8 a.m.; the coroner’s office will release the deceased's identity later. KGET
