ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On June 23 at about 2:08 a.m., a collision on Highway 43 near Delano killed the driver of a 2017 Toyota Camry after being hit by a 2001 Toyota Tacoma that failed to stop at a sign & fled on foot, and CHP is investigating the incident.  KGET

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Rite Aid has planned to close over 800 stores as part of its bankruptcy process—court documents on Friday list 118 locations in 11 states, including four in Bakersfield. The chain is selling some stores and prescription files to other pharmacy chains while customers are advised to check for closure notices and speak with their pharmacists.  KGET

CRIME NEWS

  • Bakersfield Police Department is seeking help finding missing Dalilah Garcia, a 13-year-old girl last seen on June 20 at around 11 p.m. on the 1800 block of Lacey Street near South H Street in Bakersfield—she is at risk as this is her first runaway incident—she is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 110 pounds, has long black hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a black shirt with black and grey pajama pants.  Bakersfield Now
  • Bakersfield Police are asking for community help in finding 15-year-old London Bishop, who was last seen in the 600 block of Hosking Avenue on June 24 at around 12:47 a.m.—she is considered at risk as she has no history of running away.  Bakersfield Now
  • Kern County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Lucas Blas, 38, Carlos Acosta, 39, and Salvador Najera, 34 on June 18 in Arvin after finding 250 pounds of alleged stolen copper wire and wire-stripping machines that caused about $30,000 in damage in the Tejon area—KCSO asks anyone with tips to call its tip line.  KUZZ
  • On April 5, a deadly shooting outside Santiago’s Grill & Seafood on Wible Road left one woman dead and another wounded — two suspects were arrested and now face charges of murder and attempted murder.  KGET
  • A Bakersfield resident and three others were arrested in Modesto on May 29th after a multi-agency investigation revealed a drug trafficking ring using counterfeit Oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl — authorities seized over 10 pounds of M30 pills and more than 11 pounds of precursor chemical powder while the Bakersfield suspect was taken to face charges in Stanislaus County.  Bakersfield Now
  • On Tuesday afternoon in east Bakersfield, CHP officers arrested a man and a woman near Edison Highway and Tejon Highway after a man was found with a gun and the woman ran on foot (around 12:06 p.m.), and both were booked into Lerdo Jail (the man has a gun charge while the woman faces resisting arrest and outstanding warrants).  Bakersfield Now
  • Bakersfield police are asking for help finding 17-year-old Nasean Jay Mobley who was last seen June 19 at around 9:30 p.m. on the 4300 block of Parkwood Court—he is considered at-risk and anyone with useful information is urged to call 661-327-7111.  KGET

  • The Bureau of Land Management in California will reopen oil and gas leasing in parts of Kern, Fresno, Kings and Madera counties with a 30-day public comment period while national monuments and designated wilderness areas remain protected — Bakersfield Congressman Vince Fong supports the move for its local economic benefits even as environmental groups warn of potential health and ecological risks.  Bakersfield Now
