- ➤ Kira Burton — a fugitive who shot Michael Rico Stubbs at a red light on March 22 — was convicted of first-degree murder on June 18 in Bakersfield and faces a life sentence with sentencing set for July 18. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ Mister Bailey, accused of murdering his 3‑month‑old son and assaulting children in his Tehachapi home as ring video evidence shows, will represent himself at trial set for Aug. 11 (Judge Oglesby warned that his lack of legal experience may lead to key testimony being dropped). KGET
- ➤ A preliminary hearing began in east Bakersfield in the murder case of Robert Overdevest, who died three days after being shot on July 18 last year, with Ashley Ruiz—39, Rhys Casterline—23, and Gabriel Valle—25 accused during an argument as Ruiz admitted she only meant to scare him and all three are held without bail.
