Delano police officers played a friendly basketball game with Morningside Elementary fifth graders on Wednesday, June 3 — the students won 28-22 and officers praised their sportsmanship.
The game boosted hometown pride in a lighthearted community event.

Bakersfield College hosted a campus luau yesterday to celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month.
The event featured Hawaiian-inspired food, guest speakers (including BC President Dr. Stacey Pfluger and Kern County Asian Chamber of Commerce’s Quon Louey) and Polynesian performances even as rain added charm.
