- ➤ An 11-year-old boy was riding his bike on Quincy Street in East Bakersfield when he was struck by a car just before 5 p.m. on May 29—police say the woman driving south on Owens Street stayed at the scene and no speeding or impairments were involved. KGET
- ➤ A three-car collision just before 6 a.m. on I-5 north of Laval Road caused a major backup as two southbound lanes are closed — only minor injuries have been reported. Bakersfield Now
- ➤ Kern County firefighters worked to contain a brush fire that ignited early Thursday at 4 a.m. along the southbound lanes of I-5 near Grapevine Road—where a vehicle sparked the fire that spread to nearby grass over 2 acres—and traffic remained slow despite lanes reopening. KGET
