ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A federal environmental review released this week may allow the Bureau of Land Management to resume local oil and gas leasing in Kern and eight nearby areas. Officials say the move could reopen energy development options for the region.  The Bakersfield Californian

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yessica Reedy from east Bakersfield had her trash bin stolen again, prompting city officials to review the tracking system (officials say theft is rare). The sanitation department tracks bins by serial numbers within 24 to 48 hours, and a review of replacement procedures is underway.  Bakersfield Now
