- ➤ A house fire on May 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Oildale on Decatur Street (east of Airport Drive) hurt one person (who got oxygen until an ambulance arrived) as firefighters quickly knocked down most flames while the home smoldered and the cause remains unknown. KGET
- ➤ At about 3:47 a.m. May 19, a 2025 Honda motorcycle ran a stop sign at Highway 43 and Burbank Street and was struck by a Chevrolet traveling at 55 mph—ejecting the rider who was pronounced dead—and the car driver was not injured, with investigators noting no alcohol or drugs were involved. KGET
- ➤ A 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred near Mettler on Monday morning at 12:09 p.m. —15 km northwest of Grapevine— with two aftershocks of 2.5 magnitude at 12:11 and 12:19 p.m. and no reports of damage or injuries, while the area experienced a 5.2 quake in August that caused minor damage to water lines. 23ABC News

- ➤ On May 17, McFarland police arrested three drivers for suspected DUI at a checkpoint near Mast and Nill Avenues that screened 107 vehicles from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. — the operation also led to five citations for invalid or suspended licenses and two impounded vehicles. Bakersfield Now
