EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arvin High School was recognized by the State Department of Education for its free dual enrollment program (which saves time and money) that lets students earn college credits before graduation and partners with Bakersfield College; it is the only Kern High School District school to earn the honor this year.  23ABC News
  • CSUB renamed its student lounge in the Student Union Tuesday to honor The Wonderful Company's $1.5 million donation for a rehabilitation project; school officials celebrated the change with a campus event.  The Bakersfield Californian

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A $4.3 million project to restore 670 acres along the Lower Kern River Parkway was proposed to create new habitat, improve wildlife corridors, and offer community shade and recreation. Site preparation and planting will begin in fall 2027 if approved, with full work planned for 2032.  23ABC News
