- ➤ Houchin Community Blood Bank will offer enamel pins with a donor’s blood type to anyone who gives blood from April 21 to April 26 or until supplies run out at donation centers and mobile drives. Donors must be in good health — weigh at least 110 pounds and be 16 years old with a parent or guardian's consent, and walk-ins are welcome even though appointments are encouraged. KGET
- ➤ A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday morning for the St. Jude Dream Home in southeast Bakersfield near Crescent Elementary School. - ➤ A 22-year-old man with an outstanding warrant for attempted murder was shot and killed by KCSO deputies at Belle Terrace Park—after a 911 call reported his location, marking the department's second officer-involved shooting this week. 23ABC News
- ➤ On March 21 at around 4 p.m., Delano police responded to Morningside Elementary School after an anonymous call reported a potential school shooting—detectives executed two search warrants that recovered a firearm, three magazines, and ammunition and identified the suspects linked to the incident. - ➤ Bakersfield police arrested three suspects—52-year-old Michael Holcomb, 49-year-old William Denison and 31-year-old Edward Penn—on April 16 after a months-long investigation into burglaries, with video showing a Jeep hitting the Auto Sounds store and stolen property recovered from a chop shop. - ➤ Bakersfield Police credited a K9 officer for helping seize tar heroin, fentanyl, cash, and part of an assault rifle during a Wednesday traffic stop. The Bakersfield Californian
- ➤ Bakersfield PD, with help from K9 Jack, seized about 1.5 pounds of tar heroin and fentanyl during a traffic stop near Taft Highway and Highway 99 on April 16th, 2025 at 2 p.m.—Bartolo Bustamante was arrested and executed search warrants led to the seizure of an assault rifle receiver and over $55,000 in cash linked to drug sales.
