  • Saint George Greek Orthodox Church will host its inaugural golf tournament at Riverlakes Ranch on April 28. Check-in is at 10:30 a.m., lunch is at 11 a.m., play begins at noon, and dinner with raffles starts at 5 p.m.—participants pay $125 for a chance to win a $10,000 prize for the first hole-in-one and prizes for closest to the hole and longest drive, with all proceeds benefiting the church.  Bakersfield Now
  • Bakersfield College will host Garden Fest 2025 on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on its Panorama Campus lawn where over 100 vendors will offer crafts, produce, and food items as part of the BC Horticulture Department’s annual event—free parking is available in the P3 lot.  Bakersfield College

  • Law enforcement in Bakersfield is searching for a suspect after a deputy-involved shooting occurred Tuesday morning near Valley Plaza Mall (no injuries were reported) and residents are asked to shelter in place and call 911 for suspicious activity.  23ABC News
  • Bakersfield Police are asking for help finding 12-year-old Noah Serna — who was last seen April 11 in the 1600 block of East Truxtun Avenue and is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes — as he is considered at-risk.  KGET
  • The Kern County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding 16-year-old Ka'lanaih Laura-Sharai Thomas who was last seen near her home on April 11 at 8 a.m.—she is Black, 5 ft 11 in tall, weighs 130 lb and is known for wearing a royal blue Nike hooded sweatshirt.  Bakersfield Now
  • The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding 16-year-old Ka’lanaih Laura-Sharai Thomas who went missing Friday at around 8 a.m. April 11 near her home — she was described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen in a royal blue Nike hooded sweatshirt, so anyone with information is urged to call 661-861-3110.  KGET
  • A Kern County jury convicted a man—charged with the continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14—for abusing the victim for more than two years.  The Bakersfield Californian
