  • Centro Cali Brewing began its soft launch in downtown Bakersfield and now offers house-made beer and food as it finalizes upgrades to its space — including work on a patio and banquet room. The team plans a grand opening in the coming weeks.  23ABC News

  • A break-in happened early Saturday at Slicer's Pizza in East Bakersfield when a suspect broke a wall with a hammer and stole a cash register, tools, and a sound bar—forcing the owner to close the shop and call the police.  Bakersfield Now
  • Bakersfield man Dennis Ghianuly became Kern County’s first person convicted under Proposition 36 when he was found guilty on April 10 for possessing hard drugs with multiple prior convictions and for stealing a 44-pound bag of dog food from a Petsmart on January 8—police said surveillance footage and evidence such as knives, lighters and fentanyl led to his arrest, and he now faces over seven years in prison.  KUZZ
  • The Kern County Sheriff's Office is searching for missing juvenile Melody Mood who was last seen on April 12th at about 9:30 p.m. in Valley Acres—if you have any information, please contact the sheriff's office.  Bakersfield Now
  • On April 11, 2025, at 9:08 p.m. (local time), deputies in Bakersfield began a slow-speed pursuit after a stolen vehicle was reported near Beardsley Elementary School and, following the deployment of a K9, arrested Myles Harrod (20) after he evaded officers for nearly one and a half hours before being booked on charges of grand theft auto, evading and resisting arrest.  Bakersfield Now
  • Officials arrested Norbert Karaba, 34, Nicolae Bud, 51 and Giorgio Marcelo, 29 in Northridge on April 10 when a search warrant by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office and LA County law enforcement uncovered EBT fraud evidence including card skimming equipment, card readers and cloned access cards along with nearly $64,000 in cash—Karaba also faces charges from a December 2024 incident linked to a south Bakersfield ATM.  KUZZ
  • Police in Bakersfield arrested one suspect for DUI during a Friday checkpoint in northwest Bakersfield and made 14 traffic stops—issuing seven citations for unlicensed driving while impounding six vehicles.  KGET
