  • Bakersfield PD held its annual Easter Egg Hunt for the blind and visually impaired at the Bakersfield Police Activities League — 301 E. 4th Street. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A rolled over semi truck trailer blocked the transition road along eastbound Highway 58 near the H Street and Chester Avenue exit yesterday morning, slowing traffic after a collision involving two other vehicles was reported at about 9:30 a.m. (California Highway Patrol).  KGET
  • A residential fire killed 5 people near Edwards on Thursday — four of them were minors, the Kern County Fire Department reported.  The Bakersfield Californian

CRIME NEWS

  • Bakersfield police will set up a DUI checkpoint today from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location chosen based on crash statistics and DUI arrest rates—drunken driving crashes have killed 26 people and injured 682 over the past three years.  KGET
  • Bakersfield police are asking the community for help in finding 14-year-old Jude Ornelas, who was last seen on April 9th at about 7 p.m. on the 1800 block of Forrest Street near H Street—he is described as Hispanic, 5 ft 11 in tall, and 245 lbs with black hair and hazel eyes.  Bakersfield Now
  • The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children released an age-progressed image showing what 16-year-old Khrystyna Carreno might look like today after she disappeared from Bakersfield on November 20 when she was 12, and authorities suspect she may be in Kern or Los Angeles County.  Bakersfield Now
