- ➤ Yesterday, Bakersfield College hosted Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day where over 250 high school students joined engineering panels, workshops (including career planning and communication skills), and interactive activities that celebrated STEM. - ➤ City code enforcement is teaching street vendors the rules for permits and business tax certificates after complaints about traffic and blocked driveways on Casa Loma Drive and South Martin Luther King Boulevard. - ➤ Bakersfield’s Clean City program continues with nearly $2 million annual funding as the city reorganizes contracts by shifting funding to county landfill fees (reducing pressure-washing for downtown to three days a week) while keeping essential cleanup services provided by 70 to 80 workers. 23ABC News
- ➤ Kern County Public Works used a $44,000 KernCOG grant to add five benches, bike parking, and three repair stations in three Kern County Parks. The facilities are open at Lake Ming, Hart Memorial Park, and Lake Buena Vista, with more locations planned as the program grows. Bakersfield Now
